How to Calculate a Tip?
Tipping (or leaving a gratuity) is a common practice to show appreciation for good service. The standard tip rate in many places ranges from 10% to 20% of the total bill, depending on the quality of the service.
The Formula
To calculate the tip manually, you multiply the total bill by the tip percentage (in decimal form). For example, to leave a 15% tip on a ₹1000 bill:
- Convert 15% to a decimal:
15 ÷ 100 = 0.15 - Multiply by the bill:
1000 × 0.15 = 150 - Your tip is ₹150, making the total bill ₹1150.
Splitting the Bill
Our tool also acts as a bill splitter. If you are dining with friends, simply enter the number of people in your party. The calculator will automatically divide both the tip and the total bill evenly, so everyone knows exactly how much they owe.
